Without a doubt this is one of the World’s craziest culinary competitions. A wild wrestling competition in a pool full of Lancashire Gravy!
The Weird and Wonderful World of Gravy Wrestling takes place at the Rose ‘n’Bowl, Stacksteads every August. It is true people come from far and wide to spend their Bank Holiday Monday rolling around in gravy. Local companies get very involved in supporting the charity event, the main ones being The Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company and obviously the venue itself; the Rose ‘n’ Bowl. Our very own Andy Holt and Sara Lusty spend much of each year organising the charity event. Andy takes part each year in aid of the children’s hospice Derian House. The event also creates good community spirit with many local companies offering sponsorship and it remains a topic of conversation in Rossendale for a long time afterwards.
